Cobia (also Ling & Lemon Fish) are found inshore
and nearshore. They can also be found around bouys,
pilings & wrecks. They are "sight" fished which means
that they are spotted and cast to from the tower of
the boat. The mate in the tower spots the fish, casts
a variety of artificial lures and live baits to the
fish. Hopefully the fish will go for the bait and
get hooked. The mate will then pass the rod down to
an angler and the fight is on. A 60 lb Cobia is not
uncommon. Cobias don't always happen but when they
do it is a blast!
Catch them March - May but stragglers
are always around.
